Earth Week & Arbor Day 2011

Mark your calendars for NKU's celebration of Earth Week and Arbor Day April 18 through April 22!

Since 2004, this springtime event has been organized by ECOS (Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students). This year, they are joined in the planning by the APB (Activities Programming Board), NKU Horticulture and NKU Green.Here's your chance to hear about what others are doing to help NKU and the Northern Kentucky region go green and how you can help.

Monday April 18
Local Activist Monday
11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. SU 302

Environmental activists will share their stories and answers the community and students' questions.

Tuesday April 19
Environmental Education Day
9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Environmental science programming for visiting middle and high school students . Plastik and the students will have a chance to meet ECOS members. Activities  Programming Board will provide lunch outside the Student Union, accompanied by live music

Wednesday April 20
Reap what you sow
11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. SU 302
Mary Katherine Dickerson with the Conservation District, Collette Thompson of NKYCommunity Gardens plus many more will speak on community sustained agriculture, conservation projects and local food. Light local, organic lunch provided by Green B.E.A.N. Delivery. Guest speakers include: Mary Katherine Dickerson with the Conservation District, Collette Thompson with the Community Gardens, and many more!

Thursday April 21
Building Green NKU
11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. SU 302
Presenters will share NKU's master plan and the green elements and plans. They will answer questions about NKU's new LEED building (new informatics building/ Griffin Hall).  Possible tour through the unfinished building.

Friday April 22
Earth Day
Due to inclement weather the festivities for Earth Day & Arbor Day will be held in the University Center building on the second floor from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Here???s your chance to do tie dye, pet live animals, plant trees and visit with over 20 environmentally focused exhibitors.
